Learnership Purpose

The SGS YES (Youth Employment Service) Learnership 2025 offers unemployed South African youth aged 18–30 a 12-month opportunity to develop theoretical and practical skills in a real-world corporate environment. Based in Richards Bay, this program combines a structured curriculum with hands-on experience, guided by experienced trainers, to earn a recognized qualification and boost employability in inspection and testing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Clean sites or workshops after tasks or at day’s end, removing consumables like masking tapes and tins.
  • Adhere to SGS’s quality and safety requirements per the management system.
  • Verbally report deviations, irregularities, or non-conformities.
  • Perform reasonable tasks assigned by the site supervisor, laboratory manager, or regional manager.
  • Conduct field and laboratory work, including sampling, calculations, and tests, with accuracy.
  • Maintain discipline within the assigned department.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Grade 12/Matric certificate with Mathematics and Science.
  • Effective communication skills in English.
  • Valid South African ID and citizenship.
  • Age between 18 and 30 years.
  • Unemployed at the time of application.
  • Clean criminal record.
  • Willingness to relocate to Richards Bay.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Interest in data analysis and excellent research skills.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Outstanding organizational abilities and self-driven initiative.
