Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 12 Certificate (NQF Level 4)
- Sound knowledge of telephone etiquette and Batho Pele Principles
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Good listening, interpersonal, and customer service skills
- Computer literacy, particularly in the MS Office package
- Ability to work professionally in a high-pressure environment
Key Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for the effective operation of the departmental switchboard and related services, including:
- Operating and managing the PABX switchboard system
- Handling all incoming and outgoing telephone calls professionally
- Screening and directing calls to relevant officials and departments
- Maintaining and updating the official telephone directory
- Managing and safeguarding switchboard equipment and government property
- Providing accurate information related to Department of Health services
- Resolving caller queries and referring complex matters appropriately
- Ensuring compliance with departmental policies, procedures, and values
- Supporting effective people and service management within the unit
