The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) invites suitably qualified and experienced candidates to apply for Grant Administrator contract positions within the Gauteng Region. These vacancies form part of SASSA’s commitment to improving access to social grants and ensuring efficient service delivery to beneficiaries.

Grant Administrator – Level 05 (X3 Posts)

Location: Gauteng Region
Employment Type: Contract
Salary: R228 321 – R268 950 per annum (excluding benefits)

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline customer service to grant applicants and beneficiaries.
  • Screen and capture social grant applications in line with SASSA policies.
  • Perform beneficiary maintenance and update records accurately.
  • Arrange medical bookings and support grant-related assessments.
  • Conduct outreach and off-site grant application services when required.
  • Scan, batch and manage grant documentation in accordance with procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with social assistance legislation and internal controls.

Minimum Requirements

  • A recognised qualification at NQF Level 6 in Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Sciences, Commerce, Finance, Accounting, Social Security or a related field.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • Good communication, organisational and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Senior Grant Administrator – Level 07 (X3 Posts)

Location: Gauteng Region
Employment Type: Contract
Salary: R325 101 – R382 959 per annum (excluding benefits)

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform quality assurance on grant applications and supporting documents.
  • Approve or decline grant applications in line with legislation and policy.
  • Oversee beneficiary maintenance and grant administration processes.
  • Supervise, mentor and provide guidance to Grant Administrators.
  • Resolve complex client queries and escalated cases.
  • Ensure compliance with SASSA policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Support management with reporting and operational planning.

Minimum Requirements

  • A recognised NQF Level 6 qualification or higher in Public Administration, Social Sciences, Business Management, Finance or a related field.
  • At least three years’ relevant experience in social security or grant administration.
  • Computer literacy is essential.
  • A valid driver’s licence may be required.
