Minimum Requirements (Very Important)

To qualify for SAPS Security Officer vacancies, you must meet these minimum requirements:

• Must be South African citizen
• Must have no criminal record
• Must have no pending cases against you
• Must be proficient in at least two official languages
  (one must be English)
• Must have successfully completed:
  • Grade 10 (Standard 8) / NQF Level 3
• Must be registered with:
  • PSIRA (Compulsory)
• Must have at least:
  • Grade C Security Certificate or higher
• Must not be declared unfit to possess a firearm
• Must be willing to:
  • undergo firearm competency training
  • maintain firearm competency
• Must be willing to work:
  • shifts
  • extended hours

• Degree/Diploma in security services
• Relevant security courses
• Valid driver’s licence (light motor vehicle)

Job Duties (What You Will Do)

If selected, your duties will include:

Access Control Duties

You will:

• execute access control according to the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act
• identify and register employees, visitors, and maintenance staff
• issue visitor admission cards and ensure return
• ensure visitors are escorted correctly

Search and Security Checks

You will:

• conduct electronic searches
• check suppliers and objects entering premises
• control entry of vehicles and equipment in the field

Patrolling and Monitoring

You will:

• patrol buildings and fenced areas
• monitor security equipment
• inspect facilities and take corrective actions where necessary

Reporting and Support

You will:

• report security incidents/deficiencies to senior officers
• assist other security officers as required
• supervise cleaners and maintenance staff (security-related supervision)

This job requires alertness and strong discipline because you will be protecting critical assets.
