Minimum Requirements

Applicants must meet all the following requirements:

  • Must be a South African citizen
  • Must be proficient in at least two official languages, one of which must be English
  • Must have no previous criminal convictions and no pending criminal cases
  • Must be willing to undergo security vetting, including security screening and fingerprint verification
  • Must have successfully completed Grade 10 (Standard 8) or Basic Education and Training (NQF Level 3) with documentary proof
  • Must have a valid PSIRA registration certificate
  • Must be in possession of a Grade C Security Certificate or higher
  • Must not be declared unfit to possess a firearm
  • Must be willing to undergo firearm competency training and continuously maintain firearm competency
  • Must be willing to work shifts, overtime, and extended hours

Added Advantages

  • Valid driver’s licence for at least a light motor vehicle

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be required to:

  • Execute access control in accordance with the Control of Access to Public Premises and Vehicles Act (Act No. 53 of 1985)
  • Perform positive identification of employees, visitors, suppliers, and maintenance personnel
  • Register employees, visitors, and contractors and conduct electronic searches where required
  • Issue visitor admission control cards and ensure their return
  • Maintain accurate visitor registers
  • Authorise entry only after compliance with legislative and security requirements
  • Confirm visits with hosts and ensure visitor escorting as prescribed
  • Inspect suppliers, articles, and objects before entry to ensure premises safety
  • Control the admission of vehicles and equipment
  • Guard state vehicles and equipment in the field
  • Supervise cleaners and maintenance personnel strictly from a security perspective
  • Conduct regular patrols of buildings, offices, and fenced-off areas
  • Monitor security equipment and facilities and take corrective action where required
  • Render assistance to security officers during operations
  • Report all security risks, deficiencies, or incidents to senior security personnel
