About the Customer Service Centre Agent Role
The Customer Service Centre Agent role is an essential frontline position. Agents are responsible for helping customers with their queries, processing transactions, issuing eTags, and providing clear information about SANRAL’s products and services.
This role is crucial to ensuring that road users receive fast, friendly, and accurate support. Agents help solve problems, guide customers on payment options, and maintain SANRAL’s strong reputation for service excellence.
Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this opportunity, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- NQF Level 5 Higher Certificate in any of the following fields:
- Business Administration
- Customer Service Management
- Customer Care
- Call Centre Management
- Retail Management
- Office Administration
- At least three (3) years of experience in a customer-facing role
- If your qualification was obtained internationally, you must provide an official SAQA evaluation confirmation
Key Skills and Technical Competencies
Candidates should have the following skills and technical abilities:
- Experience using Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems, VoIP platforms, and other customer service-related software
- Ability to work with digital tools, including data entry systems, emails, and online portals
- Knowledge of SANRAL services, such as:
- Customer mobility accounts
- Billing and payment processes
- Dispute resolution steps
- Clear and empathetic communication skills, both in-person and over the phone
- Strong problem-solving abilities
- Excellent time management skills
- Strong customer relationship-building skills
Duties and Responsibilities
As a Customer Service Centre Agent, your key responsibilities will include:
1. Customer Service
- Provide a positive, professional, and helpful experience to all customers
- Respond quickly and accurately to queries
- Guide customers on how to use the SANRAL mobile app
- Assist road users with Account-Based Ticketing (ABT) queries
- Ensure customer satisfaction by meeting service benchmarks
- Communicate clearly with customers through multiple service channels
2. Customer Account Registration
- Register new customer accounts and capture accurate information
- Maintain and update the customer database regularly
- Ensure data is collected accurately, whether provided verbally, in writing, or online
3. Handling Complaints and Problem Solving
- Manage difficult customer interactions with patience and professionalism
- Resolve customer concerns effectively and escalate serious issues when needed
- Identify and report potential risks or issues that could affect SANRAL’s reputation
4. Financial Administration
- Follow strict cash-handling procedures
- Reconcile all financial transactions at the end of each shift
- Prepare reports as required by management
