SANParks (South African National Parks) is on the search for applicants who would like to join the company as a professional and reliable Security Guard. The SANParks (South African National Parks) Job Vacancy as Security Guard requires you to perform the duties below:

Protect the park and its facilities from emergencies or violent incidents, and promptly report any suspicious activity
Monitor the surroundings and remain vigilant for any unnecessary or unusual actions
Maintain an entry log by recording the names of all individuals accessing KNP premises
Secure assigned areas by detecting signs of unauthorized entry and ensuring that property and materials remain intact and undisturbed
Report any unusual incidents to the Shift Supervisor, Security Supervisor, Chief Security Officer, or Protection Services Manager
Enforce access control measures at all entry and exit points, allowing only authorized individuals and vehicles to pass through
Conduct random vehicle inspections at entry and exit points to prevent unauthorized removal of property or illegal activity
Provide on-site security at gates, managing searches, overseeing parking, and maintaining crowd control as needed
Perform routine patrols of all security posts, inspect individuals entering or leaving the park, and carry out additional assigned duties.

General Duties as Security Guard

Conduct routine patrols around the property to detect unauthorized access, potential security threats, structural damage, or any suspicious activity
Verify identification and monitor access points by checking credentials and authorizing the entry of individuals and vehicles as per security protocols
Monitor CCTV surveillance actively to identify unusual behavior, potential threats, or any security concerns that require immediate attention
Respond swiftly to emergencies such as fires, medical incidents, or other critical situations by following established safety procedures
Keep detailed records of suspicious activities, security breaches, and incidents encountered during patrols for future reference and reporting
Engage professionally with visitors, tenants, and staff while enforcing security measures and providing assistance when needed
Inspect entry points such as doors and windows to identify vulnerabilities and ensure they are properly secured
Administer basic first aid in emergency situations if certified, providing immediate assistance until professional medical help arrives
Relay important information to the next shift by briefing the incoming security guard on ongoing incidents, concerns, or special instructions.

Obtain a Grade 12 Matric certificate along with a minimum Grade C, D, and E Security Certificate and a valid PSIRA
Gain at least two years of experience as a Security Guard
Develop proficiency in using security equipment
Understand wildlife crime and its implications
Acquire a valid driver’s license
Strengthen your ability to secure buildings or designated areas effectively
Demonstrate the ability to protect and serve with professionalism
Maintain physical fitness and be prepared for a physical fitness assessment
Hone your skills in detecting suspicious activities or objects
Expand your knowledge of first aid procedures
Improve both verbal and written communication skills
Familiarize yourself with firearms, as firearm competency will be an added advantage.
