Are you a highly articulate, visionary professional with a passion for exceptional guest experiences and operational excellence? Protea Ridge Guest Cottages, a premier lodge, conference, and event venue in North Riding AH, Johannesburg, invites you to join our small, highly effective, and fun-loving team as our new Receptionist & Guest Services Coordinator.

This is more than a desk job; it’s a dynamic, hands-on role for a solutions-based individual who thrives in a fast-paced, fluid environment. We are an upmarket establishment with diverse corporate and luxury clientele, requiring a confident, non-judgmental approach to interacting with all cultures, races, and sexualities.

Your Impact:

Guest Experience Champion: Deliver unparalleled service, managing reservations, seamless check-ins/outs, and ensuring every guest interaction is memorable and cost-effective.
Operational Maestro: Work closely with our experienced managers and staff to ensure smooth, efficient venue operations, from coordinating events to monitoring daily activities. This is not a desk-bound role; you will be actively involved across the property.
Revenue & Growth Driver: Actively promote and sell our event packages, always thinking of innovative ways to enhance our offerings and maximise efficiency. Opportunities for commission-based earnings exist.
Tech-Forward & Marketing Savvy: Utilise advanced computer skills beyond basics, embracing AI tools and assisting with our online advertising and social media campaigns (access and familiarity with platforms is key, not personal activity).
Solutions-Oriented Visionary: Proactively identify opportunities for improvement, contributing innovative ideas and acting as a problem-solver, not just identifying issues.

Who We’re Looking For:

Education: Minimum Matric / O-Levels / A-Levels.
Communication: Fluent and articulate English (written and spoken) is essential. Anything additional is a plus.
Mindset: Time, energy, and cost-aware, with a proven ability to be dynamic and adapt as the industry fluctuates. We foster personal and professional growth, playing to individual strengths and turning weaknesses into learning opportunities.
Experience: Previous hospitality, reception, or guest services experience in a similar upmarket environment is preferred.
Autonomy: A self-motivated individual who takes initiative; this role is impossible for those who base their work on what others are doing.

Essential Expectations (Please read carefully before applying):

This is not a relaxed, stress-free role. It is demanding and requires constant engagement.
You must demonstrate impeccable respect for time and people. Reliability and commitment are paramount.
Strict reliability is required. Due to the nature of our operations, frequent absences or last-minute changes are not sustainable.
Proximity to North Riding AH is crucial. Candidates should ideally reside within a 15-minute commute to ensure consistent punctuality for early mornings and late nights.

What We Offer:

Collaborative Environment: Join a highly effective, fun, and experienced management team that values fluid cooperation and initiative.
Growth: Significant room to grow within the role and earn more through commission.
Compensation: Salary between R6,000 – R10,000 per month, dependent on experience.
Work Schedule: Monday to Sunday (typically 8 am – 5 pm), with flexibility required for events. Up to 2 days off per week; normal leave conditions apply.
Trial Period: A one-month trial period will commence upon employment.
Accommodation: On-site accommodation is available.
