About the Pick n Pay Buyer Traineeship 2025
Pick n Pay is currently searching for applicants who would like to receive practical work exposure based in Kenilworth, Cape Town focusing on the Buyer career path. The Pick n Pay Buyer Traineeship places responsibility on you to drive profitable and sustainable growth within your assigned department. This involves carefully selecting and purchasing a well-balanced range of products that not only align with customer needs but also exceed their expectations. At the same time, you are expected to ensure that all buying activities are conducted within the agreed performance indicators (KPIs), supporting both customer satisfaction and the long-term success of the business.
You will be required to perform the duties below:
- Select products that are best suited to the needs and preferences of our customers while aligning with the requirements of our stores
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure the most competitive prices, ensuring profitability without compromising quality
- Collaborate with suppliers to make sure that all production requirements, including timelines and quantities, are consistently met
- Work closely with stores to guarantee that merchandise is displayed and presented in an appealing and strategic manner to attract customers
- Ensure that all products meet the company’s established quality standards, maintaining consistency and customer trust
- Oversee the administrative aspects of the buying process, including documentation, record-keeping, and compliance with internal procedures.

1. Basic Qualifications
- Obtain a BA/BCom degree or a relevant clothing or textile-related diploma from a registered institution
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, including Windows, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Possess knowledge of CorelDRAW and Photoshop; these skills will be considered an advantage
- Gain experience working in a clothing or textile-related environment
- Be prepared to work extended hours when required
