About the Motus Apprenticeship
Motus is seeking for keen applicants who would like to obtain practical workplace experience in a professional setting with the automobile establishment. The Motus Apprenticeship offers an opportunity for a Level 2 Apprentice providing an excellent path for individuals eager to undergo training and earn qualifications as a Motor Mechanic.
Candidates selected for this role will actively engage in all facets of the Apprenticeship programme, including assisting in vehicle repairs under the guidance of a qualified Technician. They will fulfill the MerSETA trade requirements, master level tests, and aim to qualify within a maximum period of 4 years. This apprenticeship is designed to equip participants with comprehensive skills and knowledge essential for a successful career in motor mechanics.
You will also be required to fulfill the duties below:
- Participate in designated technical and level training courses
- Support vehicle repairs to gain practical experience while working under the guidance of a Technician
- Prepare diligently for level tests to qualify within a maximum period of four years
- Help maintain cleanliness by keeping tools and equipment organized and in proper condition, as well as ensuring the work area remains tidy
- Adhere to workplace safety regulations and conduct protocols
- Carry out any other reasonable tasks that may be assigned occasionally.

1. Basic Qualifications
- Complete Grade 12 with Pure Mathematics and Physical Science; achieve at least a 50% pass mark in each subject for added advantage
- Hold a valid, unendorsed driver’s license
- Maintain a clear criminal record
- Demonstrate strong mechanical insight and technical aptitude; gain skills and experience in this area to strengthen your application.
2. Personal Attributes
- Operate manufacturer diagnostic equipment and computers competently to access technical information
- Maintain physical fitness to handle heavy work and perform duties associated with the role
- Engage in hands-on tasks and enjoy working with your hands
- Work comfortably in noisy environments
- Ensure good eyesight and strong hand-eye coordination
- Apply strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and motor vehicle fault-finding skills
- Stay mentally alert and focused at all times
- Communicate and write clearly in English to accurately record findings on job cards and access repair information from OEM bulletins and online systems
- Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and accuracy
- Collaborate effectively as a team player
- Bring energy and an action-oriented mindset to the role.
