The South Deep Gold Mine Mining Learnership is a structured training programme combining theoretical learning and practical experience. Eligibility Criteria for Applicants

To qualify for the Mining Learnership 2025-2026, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Basic Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (NQF 4) certificate or equivalent N3 qualification, with passes in at least two languages.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience working in a mining operation.
  • Medical clearance from the Gold Fields Occupational Health Centre, including passing a Heat Tolerance Screening and any other required medical tests.
  • Residency in one of the designated Host Communities: Bekkersdal, Zuurberkom, Thusanang, Hillshaven, Westonaria, Poortjie, Simunye, Kalbasfontein, or Jachtfontein.
  • Successful completion of Grade 12 or matric at a school located within one of the Host Communities listed above.
