Business Operations: Cash and Branch Support

Service Consultants also play a key role in branch operations and cash handling.

Cash and Teller Duties

You will be responsible for:

  • Accepting and processing cash deposits and withdrawals
  • Providing change-for-change services
  • Processing client transfers
  • Following correct procedures for cash balancing and reconciliation
  • Declaring any cash differences and taking corrective action

Accuracy and honesty are critical in this part of the role.


ATM and Device Support

You will help ensure branch devices work smoothly by:

  • Loading and balancing ATM and self-service machines
  • Replenishing consumables like paper and slips
  • Performing first-line device maintenance
  • Reporting and assisting with down or faulty devices

This helps reduce downtime and improves the client experience.


Additional Operational Responsibilities

Other duties include:

  • Managing branch stock such as bank cards
  • Destroying old or expired stock according to reports
  • Controlling queues and assisting clients with special needs
  • Preparing and handling documents for inter-bank transfers
  • Supporting cash management and recycling strategies

Risk, Compliance, and Security Responsibilities

Because this is a FAIS-affected role, strict compliance is required.

You must:

  • Follow all Nedbank security policies and procedures
  • Prevent fraud by verifying client identity and transactions
  • Control cash limits according to policy
  • Adhere to governance, risk, and control standards

What Qualifications Are Needed?

Essential Qualification

  • Diploma (NQF Level 6)

Preferred Qualification

  • A qualification in Banking Services, such as a
    Higher Certificate in Banking Services (NQF Level 5)

Experience Required

To qualify, you should have:

  • 1 to 2 years’ experience in retail banking or client service
  • Experience handling cash transactions
  • Confidence using technology and digital systems
  • Basic first-line problem-solving skills
  • Foreign exchange experience is an advantage where applicable
