What You’ll Be Doing

As a Fire Fighter at NCC Group, your main duties will include:

  • Fighting wildfires: You’ll take part in both direct and indirect firefighting operations to stop fires from spreading and ensure they’re fully extinguished.
  • Fire prevention: You’ll help reduce fire risks by clearing vegetation, setting up irrigation systems, and spreading awareness about fire safety.
  • Emergency response: You’ll be trained to react quickly to emergencies, protecting lives, property, and natural areas.
  • Equipment maintenance: You’ll make sure all firefighting tools and gear are clean, well-maintained, and ready to use at any time.
  • Training sessions: You’ll attend regular training to stay physically fit and improve your firefighting skills.
  • Standby duties: You’ll participate in shift and standby schedules to ensure constant readiness for emergencies.

Who Can Apply

  • Be a South African citizen aged 18 or older.
  • Be available for shift work and standby duties, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Have no criminal record (this will be verified).
  • Be physically fit and healthy, ready to handle the demands of the job.
  • Pass the Arduous Pack Test — a 4.8 km walk carrying a 20 kg pack completed in under 45 minutes.
  • Successfully complete a Physical Fitness Assessment and health evaluation by an Occupational Health Practitioner.
  • Have the ability to work under pressure and stay calm in stressful situations.
  • Be a team player with strong communication and observation skills.
  • Strictly follow NCC Group’s Alcohol, Drug, and Substance Use Policy.
