Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 10 qualification
- 1–2 years’ experience in a hospital or similar food service environment
- Ability to work shifts, including nights, weekends, and public holidays
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong customer service orientation
- High level of honesty, reliability, and self-motivation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Physical fitness to meet the demands of the role
- Basic understanding of:
- Batho Pele Principles
- Patients’ Rights Charter
- Occupational Health and Safety
- National Core Standards
- Food Service Management Policy
- Willingness to undergo medical surveillance
Added Advantage:

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for the following:
- Performing routine food service duties in the unit
- Preparing and serving meals, snacks, and beverages
- Ensuring cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen and food service areas
- Cleaning kitchen utensils, equipment, and crockery after use
- Maintaining cleanliness of food trolleys and storage areas
- Serving meals three times daily, including tea and coffee rounds
- Monitoring stock levels of kitchen utensils and equipment
- Applying hygiene, safety, and quality control measures
- Handling waste disposal and reporting losses or food wastage
- Assisting with food preparation and setup for service requests
- Attending training sessions and sectional meetings
- Adhering to Batho Pele Principles and departmental policies
- Maintaining professionalism, including dress code and time management
- Treating patients, clients, and colleagues with dignity and respect
- Complying with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA)
- Participating in the Performance Management and Development System
