Job Overview
Midvaal Local Municipality invites applications from eligible Midvaal residents for the position of General Worker: Roads & Stormwater. The role supports road and stormwater maintenance through physical labour, site support, and adherence to safety standards within the Roads & Stormwater Section.
Minimum Requirements
- Grade 10
- Grade 12 (added advantage)
- Valid C1 Driver’s Licence (added advantage)
- Minimum 1 year relevant experience in:
- Roads & stormwater construction
- Maintenance or rehabilitation within a Local Government environment
- Good physical health and ability to perform manual labour
- Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills (must be bilingual)
- Hard-working, disciplined, and reliable
Preference will be given to Midvaal residents
Key Responsibilities
- Load and off-load materials and equipment while wearing prescribed PPE
- Place traffic warning signs during road works
- Clean work areas using manual tools to maintain a safe environment
- Assist with maintenance of:
- Tarred roads
- Gravel roads
- Stormwater services
- Perform labour-related duties as instructed by supervisors or foremen
- Execute lawful instructions to ensure productivity and service delivery
- Carry out ad-hoc duties as required by management
