Job Overview

Midvaal Local Municipality invites applications from eligible Midvaal residents for the position of General Worker: Roads & Stormwater. The role supports road and stormwater maintenance through physical labour, site support, and adherence to safety standards within the Roads & Stormwater Section.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 10
Grade 12 (added advantage)
Valid C1 Driver’s Licence (added advantage)
Minimum 1 year relevant experience in:
- Roads & stormwater construction
- Maintenance or rehabilitation within a Local Government environment
Good physical health and ability to perform manual labour
Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (must be bilingual)
Hard-working, disciplined, and reliable

Preference will be given to Midvaal residents

Key Responsibilities

Load and off-load materials and equipment while wearing prescribed PPE
Place traffic warning signs during road works
Clean work areas using manual tools to maintain a safe environment
Assist with maintenance of:
- Tarred roads
- Gravel roads
- Stormwater services
Perform labour-related duties as instructed by supervisors or foremen
Execute lawful instructions to ensure productivity and service delivery
Carry out ad-hoc duties as required by management
