About the General Maintenance Worker Opportunity
Merand Recruitment is recruiting on behalf of a client who manages and maintains residential and commercial properties. They are looking for a reliable, skilled, and experienced General Maintenance Worker who can handle a wide range of maintenance tasks and work well with tenants, contractors, and internal teams.
This role is based in Stellenbosch, but the successful candidate must also be willing to travel to other properties when required. In some cases, this may include working away from Stellenbosch for up to two weeks at a time.
The position is best suited for someone who has 3 to 5 years of continuous experience in property or building maintenance and who can work independently while still being a strong team player.
What This Role Is Really About
As a General Maintenance Worker, your main responsibility will be to ensure that properties are kept in good condition, safe, and fully functional. This includes routine maintenance, repairs, inspections, and responding to tenant maintenance issues.
You will work closely with a foreman, follow maintenance plans, and help identify potential problems before they become serious. Your work will directly impact tenant satisfaction and the long-term condition of the properties.

Property Maintenance Duties
You will be responsible for a wide range of hands-on maintenance tasks, including:
- Painting, plastering, skimming walls, and tiling

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications

- Grade 12 (Matric) Certificate
- 3–5 years of continuous experience in building or property maintenance
Formal certification in any of the following areas will be a strong advantage:

- Carpentry
- Tiling
- Plastering
- Painting
Basic computer skills (MS Office) will also be an advantage.
