Responsibilities
Strategy Development and Implementation
- Abide by the strategy cascaded by functional lead and assist in the creation of the sub-functional strategy.
- Ensure effective implementation of the functional strategy.
- Assist in review of the sub-functional strategy and roadmap, to ensure its alignment with the changing dynamics of the internal and external ecosystem.
Staff Leadership and Management
- Source, induct and manage talent in accordance with legislative guidelines and directives from the CFO.
- Continually develop a culture of strong collaboration and effective team working.
- Ensure open communication channels with staff and implement change management interventions when required, and under supervision from the CFO.
- Provide definition of roles, responsibilities, individual goals and performance objectives for the team.
- Set KPIs and provide regular performance feedback through a well-defined and implemented performance review program.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a training plan in order to build and develop skills within the team.
- Performance manage resources in accordance with HR policy and legislation where necessary.
- Promote a ‘Fintech centric’ and ‘partnership approach’ to develop strong relationships with other working groups and ensure adherence to Group governance.
Operational Delivery
The role is accountable for the following work area outcomes:
Sub-Functional Leadership:
As the sub-functional leader of the Finance Revenue Assurance vertical, the role is accountable to:
- Align the results of the vertical, collectively and as individual work areas in MMC, ensuring that the Group guidelines are duly complied with.
- Measure the impact and benefit of the sub-function to MMC and report the true-value metrics. Drive continuous improvement across all verticals.
Delivery Leadership:
As the delivery leader of the Revenue Assurance vertical, the role is accountable for the following work area outcomes:
Strategy & Analytics, Revenue Assurance
- Implement and execute policies, procedures and guidelines cascaded by the functional lead and ensure compliance with the same.
- Comply with the set governance mechanisms, under supervision from the functional lead and ensure team does the same.
- Cascade the Group Fintech Revenue Assurance framework in the sub-function, under direction from the CFO.
- Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of Revenue Assurance strategies and propose and offer suggestions for improvements.
Revenue Assurance Operations
- Participate in business process changes that may affect MMC’s ability to identify, monitor or collect revenue (e.g., new system implementations/upgrades, new product roll outs, etc.).
- Continuously work to understand and mitigate losses to ensure the highest levels of revenue recognition. Maintain in-depth understanding of industry trends relative to revenue assurance practices. Promote quality assurance for all processes impacting revenue.
- Partner with Marketing, Product teams, IT, and Operations to design, develop and implement best practices to minimize revenue leakage.
- Perform regular reconciliation and analysis of revenue streams.
- Monitor collection processes for accuracy.
- Reconcile activity between network elements and billing.
- Create queries and reports to support ongoing monitoring of initiatives as well as ad-hoc reports as required.
- Develop and implement key recovery metrics.
- Perform data manipulation and analysis using tools such as Business Objects, SQL and MS-Access.
- Understand and aggregate revenue assurance activities across the business and ensure they are working effectively.
- Analyze data/reports to identify opportunities and areas for improvement.
- Create executive level reporting.
Primary and Secondary Control Management
- Ensure improved and efficient control performance.
- Monitor secondary controls.
- Manage a view of control failures through monitoring of preventative control.
- Manage primary & secondary control thresholds.
- Review Primary & Secondary controls for efficiency & effectiveness.
- Provide a view of Business Unit control coverage.
- Mitigate control implementation.
- Explore automated control coverage
- Assists the business units in the implementation of preventative fraud controls, providing. sound governance and compliance processes, and tools to identify and manage risks.
- Awareness and acceptance of control framework by business units.
- Delivers on KPIs into Business Units for control measures.
- Continuously update control frameworks aligned to the evolving business environment.
- Manage adequate internal controls and ensure effective functioning of these controls.
- Other tasks and duties, as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:Minimum of 3 years of university degree in Finance or Accounting, management or related field.Professional Qualification – CA /CPA/ CFA/ACCA or CIMA.Possession of an MBA/master’s will be advantageous.Experience:A minimum of 3 to 5 years’ total experience in Revenue Assurance or allied field is required.Experience in Fintech, banking or Mobile Money is preferred.
