What You Will Be Doing

As a General Assistant at Macsteel, you will have a variety of duties that help keep the warehouse and production areas running smoothly. Your daily responsibilities will include:

Warehouse Assistance: Helping with general warehouse tasks to ensure smooth operations.
Safe Storage: Ensuring that all materials are stored safely and correctly.
Safety Checks: Performing routine safety inspections and reporting any unsafe actions or conditions immediately.
Maintenance Reporting: Notifying supervisors of any equipment or area that needs maintenance or repairs.
Supporting Other Teams: Assisting other departments when extra help is required.
Housekeeping: Keeping the work area clean, safe, and organized at all times.
Material Handling: Pulling or picking materials as requested and preparing them for use or delivery.
Packing Materials: Properly packing and storing materials in the correct bins or locations.
Strapping: Securing materials by strapping them safely for storage or transport.
Sweeping and Cleaning: Regular sweeping and general cleaning to maintain a safe working environment.

These tasks are vital to keeping production efficient and ensuring a safe workplace for everyone.

Minimum Requirements

To apply for this position, you must meet the following minimum requirements:

Grade 12 / National Certificate (NQF Level 4 or 5).
Basic knowledge of material grades and steel products.
Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
Ability to use measuring equipment accurately.
Willingness to work shifts and overtime when required.
