Programme Overview
The Department of Health & Wellness invites applications for the Learner Pharmacist’s Assistant Programme, implemented under the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP).
This initiative aims to recruit young individuals to support pharmacists within healthcare facilities while gaining formal training.
Successful applicants will:
- Assist pharmacists in delivering efficient, cost-effective pharmaceutical services.
- Receive accredited training through a provider recognized by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
- Work towards registration as a Post-Basic Pharmacist’s Assistant upon completion.
Contract Duration
- First Phase: 12-month contract to obtain the Basic Pharmacist’s Assistant qualification.
- Second Phase: A further 12-month contract (based on academic performance) to complete the Post-Basic qualification.
Note: Completing the application form does not guarantee acceptance into the programme. Mathematics Literacy will not be considered.
Minimum Requirements
Applicants must clearly indicate the following in their CV:
- Age between 18 and 35 years
- A National Senior Certificate (Matric) with:
- Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy)
- Physical Sciences and/or Life Sciences
- Or an equivalent NQF Level 4 qualification
- Subject results must be clearly stated
Stipend
- R5,345.75 per month

- Bring certified copies (not older than 6 months) of:

- Driver’s license (if applicable)

This advertisement may be used to create a pool of candidates for up to 3 months to fill similar vacancies within the Department of Health & Wellness.
