Job Overview:

The Cashierposition involves managing all cashier-related activities at the Musina branch, including handling payments, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring that all transactions are processed smoothly and efficiently. As a Cashier, you will be responsible for both customer-facing tasks as well as critical back-end financial reconciliation and documentation. Attention to detail, integrity, and a passion for customer service are essential for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Cash Receipting and Payment Handling

* Handle customer payments for services and products, ensuring that all transactions are recorded accurately.
* Provide receipts to customers for their payments and resolve any payment-related inquiries.
* Communicate clearly with customers regarding pricing and payment options.
* Verify the total amount of money tendered and ensure correct change is given.
* Process cheque payments by following proper company guidelines.

2. Cash Reconciliation

* Perform daily reconciliation of cash receipts against issued receipts, ensuring all amounts are correctly counted and recorded.
* Ensure the separation of denominations and maintain control over counting sequences.
* Capture details of overnight cheque deposits, print receipts, and submit for further processing.
* Verify cash and cheque reports against receipts and resolve discrepancies with the immediate supervisor.

3. Documentation and Recordkeeping

* Maintain organized and accurate transaction records, ensuring all documents are properly filed and retrievable for future reference.
* Attach duplicate receipts and deposit slips to relevant schedules and file in chronological order.
* Assist in retrieving information from transaction records for resolving customer queries and audits.
* Ensure compliance with company procedures for maintaining financial records.

4. Administrative Support

* Provide general administrative support to the branch, including filing, data entry, and assisting with reports.
* Ensure the branch operates in accordance with established financial policies and procedures.

Requirements:

1. Education and Experience:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) is a mandatory requirement.
  • Experience handling cash, processing payments, and working in a fast-paced retail or service environment is preferred.

2. Skills and Competencies:

  • Integrity and Trustworthiness: The ideal candidate must be reliable, honest, and trustworthy in managing cash and customer transactions.
  • Basic proficiency in MS Excel: You will need to use Excel for cash reconciliation and report generation, so basic knowledge is required.
  • Strong numerical and organizational skills to handle cash and transaction records accurately.
  • Excellent  communication skills** to interact effectively with customers and colleagues.
  • Attention to Detail: Ability to handle multiple tasks and ensure accuracy in both cash handling and record-keeping.

3. Clear ITC and Criminal Record: The candidate must have a clear ITC (credit) and criminal record as part of the company’s hiring standards.
