Location: Johannesburg
Contract Duration: 12 months (01 April 2025 – 31 March 2026)
Purpose of the Position:
The Packaging Learner position is designed to provide practical work experience to students who have completed their Grade 12 or possess a relevant N qualification.
This role focuses on gaining exposure in a work environment, specifically within the Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. The selected learners will acquire hands-on experience in various packaging processes and practices essential to the industry.
Key Responsibilities:
Upon completion of the program, learners will be expected to demonstrate understanding and competency in the following areas:
- Operation of Packaging Processes:
- Filling and Date Coding
- Sealing
- Packing and Unpacking
- Labelling
- Maintenance and Problem-Solving:
- Perform first line maintenance.
- Utilize problem-solving techniques to address operational issues.
- Health and Safety:
- Apply health and safety regulations.
- Quality Control:
- Conduct quality control for all above-mentioned processes.
- Asset Management:
- Understand and manage assets associated with the packaging process.
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Citizenship: Must be a South African citizen.
- Educational Background:
- Minimum requirement: Matric/Grade 12 or relevant N qualification with Pure Mathematics and English.
- Preference will be given to applicants who possess a tertiary qualification in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering.
- Technical Skills and Orientation:
- Strong technical orientation and ability to execute mechanical tasks.
- Demonstrated ability to take action, initiate tasks, and maintain focus on technical and mechanical responsibilities.
- Communication Skills:
- Proven verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge and Work Practices:
- Familiarity with safe working procedures.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
- Assessment and Shift Work:
- Shortlisted candidates will be required to undergo a formal assessment.
- Willingness to work shifts and extended hours as needed.
