Job Purpose

As a Heavy Duty Driver, you will transport materials, equipment, and personnel to and from work sites while operating heavy vehicles during asphalt paving operations. This role is critical to ensuring efficient and safe road rehabilitation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Receive and follow instructions from supervisors or the Asphalt Paving office to coordinate tasks.
  • Inspect vehicles for safety devices, controls, and lubricant levels, reporting any defects.
  • Ensure safe loading and offloading of materials and equipment.
  • Transport personnel, materials, and equipment to designated locations.
  • Complete documentation such as tally sheets, log sheets, and vehicle checklists.
  • Operate heavy vehicles, including tip trucks and water trucks.
  • Manage the utilization and offloading of materials like sand, stone, and crusher run.

Essential Requirements

  • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4) or equivalent.
  • Valid Code EC motor vehicle driving license.
  • Valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP).
  • 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Requirements

  • 3 years of relevant experience.

Special Conditions

  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
  • Availability to work outside normal hours during emergencies or planned overtime.
