
Ecowize is currently seeking x4 dependable and motivated General Workers to join our Products Division in Montague Gardens, Cape Town. The role supports the manufacturing process by performing a range of manual and semi-skilled duties including container cleaning, raw material weighing and staging, labelling, decanting, forklift operation, and general housekeeping.
Description
The General Worker position involves assisting with daily production and housekeeping tasks within the factory to ensure smooth operations. The role includes cleaning and preparing containers for reuse, picking and weighing raw materials, assisting with the blending process, performing labelling and decanting, and ensuring the general cleanliness and order of the facility. Where licensed, the workers will operate a forklift to move goods safely and efficiently. The successful candidates will work closely with production and quality teams to maintain operational standards and safety compliance.
Responsibilities
- Clean and inspect returned containers, remove labels and ensure rinse water meets specification.
- Prepare containers by derusting and checking for damage or leaks prior to reuse.
- Pick correct raw materials, weigh them accurately, label, and palletize for production.
- Apply clear and correct labels to raw, intermediate, and finished products.
- Assist with loading and unloading of blending vessels under supervision.
- Decant bulk materials into designated packaging according to instructions.
- Operate a forklift safely and efficiently (where licensed).
- Maintain cleanliness of floors, workstations, and equipment.
- Support waste handling, basic cleaning of machines, and other general factory duties.
- Follow safety protocols, hygiene standards, and GMP requirements at all times.
- Demonstrate reliability, teamwork, and a willingness to assist where needed.
Requirements
- Grade 10
- Forklift licence (advantageous but not essential)
- Minimum 6 months to 1 year of experience in a factory or manufacturing environment
- Basic understanding of weighing equipment and material handling
- Ability to follow instructions and safety signage
- Physically fit and comfortable with manual labour and factory working conditions
- Experience in the chemical industry will be an advantage
