Introduction
Fidelity Services Group is seeking skilled and dedicated Firefighters to join our team in Hout Bay, Cape Town. This role focuses on emergency response to fire-related incidents, rescue operations, basic medical support, fire prevention, equipment maintenance, and promoting safety across client sites. The ideal candidate will have a valid Firefighter II certification, Hazmat experience, strong emergency response skills, and a solid understanding of safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
Emergency Response & Rescue
- Respond promptly to fire, rescue, hazardous substance, and emergency medical incidents
- Execute extrications and emergency procedures as directed by supervisors
- Provide basic medical care and assist injured persons on-site
- Operate firefighting equipment, tools, and vehicles to manage fire control
Fire Prevention & Safety Compliance
- Advise on fire prevention strategies and corrective actions
- Conduct fire safety inspections and training for internal teams
- Ensure adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS)
- Inspect and maintain emergency vehicles and firefighting equipment
Training & Development
- Participate in simulation exercises, physical fitness training, and emergency drills
- Train employees in fire prevention, emergency response, and evacuation protocols
- Assist with public education, safety awareness, and life-saving techniques
Operational Duties & Administration
- Maintain logs, complete shift reports, and update incident records
- Drive and operate specialized firefighting vehicles as required
- Perform routine maintenance on firefighting systems and tools
- Support departmental meetings and participate in Health and Safety committees
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric)
- Certifications:
- Firefighter II (IFSAC Accredited / NFPA 1001)
- Hazmat experience and training essential
- EMT certification
- First Aid Levels 1–3 / Basic Ambulance Attendant
- Driver’s License: Code C1 with PrDP
- Experience: 2–3 years’ firefighting experience in an operational environment
- Medical Fitness: Must be medically and physically fit for active duty
- Other Requirements:
- Strong understanding of fire systems, chemistry, and classifications
- Clear criminal record
- Strong administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate under pressure and in life-threatening situations
Core Competencies
- Clear and confident verbal and written communication
- Familiarity with Hazmat protocols and firefighting equipment
- Knowledge of industry codes of conduct and legal compliance
- Operational experience in fire rescue and prevention training
