Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this General Assistant post, applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  • Computer literacy, particularly in MS Office (Excel is essential)

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support asset and inventory management processes within the department. Duties include:

1. Asset Verification & Tracking

  • Assist with physical verification of assets
  • Map, scan, and identify equipment
  • Update and maintain the asset register

2. Barcoding & Register Maintenance

  • Ensure new assets are properly barcoded
  • Log and record all items accurately in the system

3. Asset Disposal Support

  • Help identify obsolete or damaged furniture and equipment
  • Assist with storage and disposal processes

4. Stock Control & Logistics

  • Support receiving and issuing of equipment
  • Assist with movement of assets within the department

5. Loss Control Assistance

  • Report damaged or missing items
  • Assist with administrative processes related to theft or loss

6. Compliance

  • Ensure asset handling aligns with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA)
  • Follow all departmental policies and procedures
