Faircape Restaurant and Catering, part of the Faircape Life retirement villages, operates in six top locations across the Western Cape. They offer dining services to residents and patients in their healthcare centres. Now, they want to add a Waiter/Barman to their team at the Onrus Manor facility in Hermanus.

What You’ll Do Every Day
As a Waiter/Barman at Faircape, you’ll make sure guests and residents enjoy their meals and drinks with friendly, professional service. Your tasks will include:
- Changing table linens and replacing any that are dirty or damaged.
- Cleaning and refilling tables with condiments like salt, pepper, and sauces.
- Setting tables properly with clean and well-maintained items.
- Keeping your work area clean and hygienic at all times.
- Knowing the menu well so you can recommend food and drinks.
- Serving meals and beverages gracefully and correctly.
- Helping guests feel comfortable by responding to their needs politely.
- Speaking up when there’s a problem and passing complaints to your manager.
- Assisting with stock checks regularly and noting any missing or broken items.
- Restocking bar supplies to keep everything ready for service.
- Making sure bills are accurate and alerting managers if they’re not.
- Keeping yourself clean and neat in appearance.
- Being ready to help out at private events outside the usual working hours.
- Preparing alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, plus providing full wine service.
What They Expect From You
Faircape needs someone with experience and good skills, including:
- Proven background as a Waiter and Bartender.
- Bonus points if you have barista experience.
- Basic knowledge of serving etiquette and wine.
- Friendly and strong communication skills.
- A quick and responsible work attitude.
- The ability to work well with others toward the same goal.
- A focus on delivering excellent service and high-quality standards.
Important to Know: Requirements and Work Schedule
Before you apply, know that you must have:
- A clear health record.
- A clean criminal record.
- A clear credit history.
- References that can be contacted.
You will work 12 shifts a month, usually three days a week, with each shift lasting four hours.
What’s In It For You?
Faircape offers a good salary with extra pay for Sundays and public holidays. You will earn time and a half for Sundays and double pay for public holidays.
There’s also a bonus every three months based on how well you do and how the company performs.
