Minimum Requirements

To qualify for this government healthcare job, applicants must meet the following requirements:

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support the dental assisting unit with administrative and sterilisation tasks, including:

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Recording instruments and handpieces requested by clinical staff
  • Recording Atest results from the first daily sterilisation load
  • Monitoring and recording autoclave cycle start and end times
  • Recording dental sets requested by clinical areas and surgeries

Sterilisation and Decontamination

  • Cleaning instruments through the proper soaking and detergent process
  • Drying, wrapping, and packing instruments according to required guidelines
  • Using autoclave tape and acceptor bags for sterilisation processes
  • Sterilising instruments using an autoclave machine
  • Packing sterilised instruments in the sterile room

Equipment and Linen Handling

  • Ordering and packing linen for the linen room
  • Disinfecting dental handpieces
  • Oiling handpieces using manual methods (such as Kavo spray) or machinery
  • Washing dental trays, packing, and sterilising them
