Minimum Requirements
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Grade 10 qualification or equivalent
- Ability to read and write
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures and maintaining a hygienic working environment
- Good communication skills and telephone etiquette
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays
- Prepared to perform physical labour
- Willing to wear protective clothing as required by law
Added Advantage:
- Knowledge of sterilisation services
Key Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for:
- Receiving unsterile packs from wards and checking completeness
- Washing and cleaning medical instruments
- Packing and autoclaving sterile packs
- Issuing sterile packs back to wards
- Folding, packing and autoclaving towels, gowns and small packs
- Handling cooled sterile items and storing them properly
- Cleaning and damp dusting allocated areas
- Scrubbing walls, cleaning trolleys, furniture, windowsills, blinds and doors
- Following Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) and Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) measures
- Reporting issues to supervisors
- Performing additional duties as delegated
