Job Purpose
The Driver (Light Duty Vehicle) role at Caledon Hospital is a permanent position responsible for supporting the oral health team by transporting staff and equipment on the dental mobile unit. Ideal for candidates with basic numeracy and literacy, a valid Code C1 driver’s license, and a Professional Driving Permit (PDP), this role requires responsible driving and physical fitness. Key Responsibilities
- Transport oral health staff, dental equipment, and supplies on the dental mobile unit to various locations.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the dental mobile unit vehicle to ensure operational readiness.
- Conduct regular vehicle inspections and report defects or issues promptly.
- Complete administrative tasks, such as logging trips and maintaining transport records.
- Support the oral health team with loading and unloading heavy equipment as needed.
- Be available for standby duties, overtime, and emergency response when required.
- Ensure safe and responsible driving to protect passengers and equipment.

Eligibility Criteria
- South African citizen with a valid ID, aged 18–50 (preferred).
- Basic numeracy and literacy (Grade 10 or equivalent).
- Valid Code C1 driver’s license with a Professional Driving Permit (PDP).
- Appropriate experience as a driver, preferably in a healthcare or public sector environment.
- No criminal record, verified through background checks.
- Physically fit to lift and load heavy items, such as dental equipment.
- Willingness to work standby, overtime, and travel as required.
- Sober habits and a responsible attitude toward driving.
