Minimum Requirements

To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate or equivalent (NQF Level 4, N3)
  • Diploma or Degree in Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, or related fields will be an added advantage
  • Strong understanding of Public Service legislation, prescripts, systems, and procedures
  • Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and sub-editing skills
  • Proven experience in:
    • Multimedia content production
    • Photography and videography
    • Graphic design and branding
    • Event planning and campaign coordination
    • Content management and media relations
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and reporting skills
  • Strong project management, planning, and organisational abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and outside normal working hours when required
  • Valid driver’s licence will be an added advantage

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting communication initiatives within the Department, including:

  • Assisting with drafting, editing, and distributing media statements
  • Maintaining professional relationships with media stakeholders
  • Developing and editing communication materials for print, digital, and social media platforms
  • Supporting the application of the Department’s Corporate Identity (CI) and branding initiatives
  • Assisting with health awareness campaigns, departmental events, exhibitions, and outreach programmes
  • Producing and distributing internal newsletters, notices, and staff updates
  • Supporting the development and implementation of communication strategies aligned with departmental objectives
  • Assisting with the management of social media accounts and digital content
