About the Position
As a Sales Assistant Visual Merchandiser at Cape Union Mart, you’ll play a key role in both sales performance and store presentation. You’ll be responsible for providing excellent customer service, ensuring that the store meets sales targets, and keeping displays aligned with the company’s well-known brand image.

Key Responsibilities
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include a mix of customer service, sales, and visual merchandising tasks.
Sales and Customer Service:
- Exceed customer expectations through effective selling techniques.
- Meet and exceed individual sales targets consistently.
- Identify opportunities to increase store turnover.
- Build professional and friendly relationships with customers by offering helpful advice and support.
- Handle customer compliments and complaints professionally and report them to management.
- Process transactions accurately — handle cash, card, voucher, coupon, and loyalty payments.
- Ensure all items leaving the store are scanned and paid for.
- Respond to customer stock queries quickly and efficiently.
- Adhere to all stock loss control measures.
Visual Merchandising:
- Maintain high visual standards across the store to attract and retain customers.
- Implement window campaigns and seasonal displays that reflect Cape Union Mart’s brand style and marketing objectives.
- Ensure all display areas, signage, and in-store visuals are clean, updated, and well-organized.
- Execute all merchandising instructions from Head Office accurately and on time.
- Use creativity to design eye-catching displays that highlight new products, promotions, and trends.
- Maintain overall store housekeeping to create a pleasant shopping environment.
What You’ll Need
Minimum Requirements:
- Matric (Grade 12) or equivalent qualification.
- At least 12 months of retail experience.
Added Advantage:
- One year of in-store visual merchandising experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic computer skills.
- Good understanding of current fashion trends or outdoor lifestyle products (depending on the brand).
