Position Purpose

The Driver Code 10 role in the Building Department at Brights Hardware, Blackheath, is a permanent position focused on ensuring accurate and punctual delivery of goods, maintaining vehicle condition, and delivering excellent customer service. Earning R8,000–R12,000/month, you’ll enhance customer satisfaction, generate sales, and support Brights’ commitment to Employment Equity and sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service during deliveries and interactions.
  • Complete daily trip sheets, recording opening/closing km and departure/arrival times.
  • Conduct daily pre-trip vehicle inspections to ensure roadworthy standards, noting issues on trip sheets.
  • Report vehicle defects to supervisors via vehicle repair reports.
  • Ensure truck assistants remain with the vehicle at all times.
  • Plan and follow the most efficient delivery routes to customers.
  • Verify all outgoing stock has relevant documentation before loading.
  • Record all transferred documents in the delivery logbook.
  • Ensure receiving branches sign the transfer logbook for stock deliveries.
  • Deliver all stock in excellent condition to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Submit weekly evaluation reports to supervisors.
  • Report any delivery delays at branches to supervisors.
  • Check in with supervisors at the end of each day.
  • Participate in perpetual stocktakes to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Perform any work-related tasks delegated by supervisors.

Eligibility Criteria

  • South African citizen aged 18–35 (preferred).
  • Grade 12 / Matric certificate, x3 completed Intercept courses (120 credits total), or 3 years’ driving experience with a valid license (for candidates without Matric).
  • Valid Code 10 Driver’s License (higher code advantageous).
  • Valid Public Driving Permit (PDP) for goods and passengers.
  • Minimum 3 years’ driving experience.
  • Ability to handle pressure and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Strong monitoring skills for vehicle and stock management.
  • High-level reading and communication skills for documentation and customer interaction.
  • Understanding of vehicle loading processes.
  • Effective planning, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Clear criminal record, verified via background checks.
  • Residence in or near Blackheath, Western Cape, for reliable commuting.
