About the Cummins Apprenticeship 2025
Cummins is offering an apprenticeship programme for passionate dynamic candidates interested in paving a professional career as a qualified Technician. The Cummins Apprenticeship will require you to specialize in service for the Distribution Business department.
As an apprentice, you will be required to perform the following duties:
- Earn a nationally recognized and fully qualified Cummins Diesel Fitter certification
- Apply your curiosity to diagnose and resolve complex engine issues
- Bring your enthusiasm, determination, and positive attitude to an Apprentice Program designed to accelerate your career growth
- Follow Health, Safety & Environmental procedures to maintain a safe workplace and prevent incidents.

The Cummins Apprenticeship Eligibility Criteria are as follows:
- Obtain a Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (NSC) from the South African school system along with an N2 (Nated certificate) that includes Engineering Drawing, Engineering Science, Mathematics, and Diesel or Motor Trade Theory; or
- Achieve a Grade 12 National Senior Certificate (NSC) from the South African school system or an NCV Level 4 qualification.; or
- Earn an NCV Level 4 qualification with completed courses in Engineering Process, Professional Engineering Practical, Applied Engineering Technology, Automotive Repair & Maintenance, and Mathematics.
- Demonstrate strong mechanical knowledge by applying Cummins and industry standards, following safe work procedures, and using mechanical principles to diagnose and repair products effectively and safely.
- Develop proficiency in product repair and maintenance by efficiently servicing mechanical products—disassembling, cleaning, inspecting, troubleshooting, and reassembling engines with precision.
