Job Purpose
The Classroom Assistant position at Crawford International Bedfordview Preparatory is a permanent role designed for compassionate individuals with a Matric certificate and experience working with young children (Grade R–3). Starting July 1, 2025, you’ll support teachers in preparing children for the next grade, fostering holistic development through play-based learning. With a market-related salary (approximately R8,000–R12,000 per month), this role offers stability and growth in early childhood education.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in delivering a well-designed daily programme for young learners.
- Support children’s holistic development, including academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Promote school readiness through engaging, play-based learning activities.
- Conduct continuous assessments and communicate progress to parents via interviews and reports.
- Integrate learning activities to encourage active child participation.
- Collaborate with colleagues to ensure the success of the school’s educational goals.
- Participate in school events, such as open days or cultural activities.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Uphold the school’s ethos and informal teaching style.

Eligibility Criteria
- South African citizen with a valid ID, aged 18–35.
- Matric certificate (Grade 12).
- Experience working with young children (Grade R–3) in a similar educational setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
- Energetic, self-motivated, and able to use own initiative.
- Good organizational skills to manage classroom activities.
Preferences
- Additional training in early childhood development or education.
- Experience in play-based or Montessori teaching methods.
- Residents of Bedfordview or surrounding Johannesburg areas.
