About the AfriSam Fitter Learnership 2026
AfriSam is offering an 18.2 Fitter Learnership opportunity based at Zeekoewater Quarry, Mpumalanga Province. This structured training programme is designed to equip unemployed youth with both theoretical knowledge and practical workplace experience in the fitting trade.
The successful candidate will be required to enter into a formal 18.2 Learnership Agreement, which will be registered with the Mining Qualifications Authority (MQA). This programme provides exposure to real working conditions within a quarry environment while working under supervision to develop trade-specific competencies.
Key Responsibilities may include:
- Participating in practical on-site mechanical maintenance activities
- Assisting with fitting, assembly, and repair of mechanical components
- Complying with workplace safety and operational procedures
- Engaging in structured theoretical training aligned with the Fitter trade
- Supporting artisans and supervisors in daily maintenance tasks.

Learnership Requirements
- Applicants must be unemployed, technically motivated youth who meet one of the following academic criteria:
Grade 12 certificate with Pure Mathematics (not Mathematical Literacy), Physical Sciences, and English (all subjects passed) - N2 Certificate with four relevant subjects including Mathematics and Engineering Science, plus two additional trade-related subjects
- Relevant Engineering NCV qualification with seven subjects at NQF Level 4
- Technical Grade 11 including Mathematics, Science, Language, and a related trade theory subject
- N6 Certificate or National Technical Diploma (T, S, or N Stream) directly related to the trade theory subjects.
Additional Advantage: A valid driver’s licence will be considered beneficial.
