Job Description
As an Apprentice Electrician, you will be responsible for acquiring the necessary knowledge and skills in the electrician trade. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Participating in the formal training plan for the apprenticeship and making reasonable progress to achieve the required competencies.
- Attending necessary training sessions or assessments related to your apprenticeship.
- Maintaining a training record (logbook) and providing it to the employer or training organization upon request.
- Acknowledging that all workplace instructions and materials obtained during training remain the property of the employer.
- Assisting in the maintenance, repair, and optimization of plant and associated devices under the supervision of qualified Artisans/Technicians.
- Collaborating effectively with colleagues to successfully complete maintenance activities and objectives.
- Adhering strictly to Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures, guidelines, and regulations.
- Engaging in cable reticulation and the installation of electrical circuits and motors for both industrial and domestic settings.
- Testing and commissioning new electrical equipment.
- Using power tools and hand tools efficiently.
- Complying with AECI safety standards and practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Grade 12 (Matric) with Mathematics and Science.
- Technical Qualification: N3 qualification is essential for applying for the Trade Test.
- Driver’s License: Will be considered a benefit.
- Knowledge Requirements: Basic understanding of process plant operations and the importance of maintenance is preferred.
- Health Clearance: Must be able to obtain health clearance to work in a chemical environment.
