The Agricultural Research Council (ARC) is offering 38 internship positions as part of its Kaonafatso ya Dikgomo (Beef Recording and Improvement Scheme).
This is a two-year contract-based internship, with successful candidates placed across all nine provinces.

What the Internship Involves
As part of the programme, your role will focus on working directly with smallholder and emerging farmers to help improve their herds and boost livestock performance. Responsibilities will include:
- Providing animal recording and improvement services
- Visiting farms and villages to assist with data collection and herd monitoring
- Assisting with training and recruitment of farmers
- Helping farmers apply beef recording techniques
- Hosting and participating in community sessions, one-on-one meetings, and team training
- Compiling monthly reports based on your findings and fieldwork
- Supporting provincial farmer support teams and playing a hands-on role in the project’s rollout
- Collecting and analysing herd performance data to help generate meaningful insights
What You’ll Need to Apply
- A National Diploma in Animal Production (or a related field)
- A willingness to travel extensively across rural and farming areas
- Strong people skills and the ability to build trust with farmers
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Dedication to supporting agricultural growth in your chosen province
Important: You must clearly indicate which province you wish to be placed in. Only one province may be selected per applicant.

- Salary: Market-related (competitive based on responsibilities and qualifications)
- Location: Interns will be based in all 9 provinces, with coordination from the ARC office in Irene.
