Job Description
Primary Purpose of the Role
The main objective of this position is to organize and prepare discharged patient files for scanning, create digital copies of these records, and ensure the daily cleaning and upkeep of two designated scanners.
Key Responsibilities
The role of a Scanner Operator involves the following duties and responsibilities to be fulfilled:
- Retrieve and prepare patient files for the scanning process.
- Digitally scan all patient documentation.
- Conduct daily cleaning and maintenance of scanning equipment.
Minimum Educational Requirements
Applicants will be required to meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for this role:
- Essential: Grade 12 (Matric)
- Preferred: None specified
Work Experience Requirements
- Essential: At least 1 year of administrative experience in a healthcare environment
- Preferred: 2 years of relevant administrative experience in a healthcare setting
Required Skills and Knowledge
- Knowledge of administrative systems and procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook.
- Understanding of the healthcare sector.
- Familiarity with handling medical records.
- Experience using Nextimage scanning software.
- Awareness of patient administration procedures (e.g., confidentiality, clinical coding, account setup, use of coding cupboard).
- Knowledge of patient privacy and data protection laws, including the POPI Act.
