Position Purpose
The Digital Ambassadors: Ya Rona Digital Programme is a six-month contract role designed to train 40 TVET graduates to deliver digital literacy skills to communities. Based at specified TVET Colleges, ambassadors will attend training, engage with local communities, and meet weekly training targets. With a market-related stipend (approximately R3,500–R5,000/month), this role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to socio-economic development through digital empowerment.
Key Responsibilities
- Attend training on basic digital literacy modules, including 4IR, network connections, and mobile applications.
- Deliver training to community members, schools, and organizations on digital literacy skills.
- Liaise with municipalities to secure venues for community training sessions.
- Train learners on the Learner Management System to track progress.
- Meet allocated weekly and monthly targets for training community members.
- Submit weekly training plans targeting communities, schools, and organizations.
- Report weekly to NEMISA on trained citizens against set targets.
- Ensure accurate attendance registers and training documentation.

Eligibility Criteria
- South African citizen with a valid ID, aged 18–35 (preferred).
- Reside in the catchment area of the specified TVET College applied for.
- National Certificate in Information Technology and Computer Science (NQF Level 2-4) from a TVET College or N6 qualification.
- Minimum 1-2 years of work experience (e.g., internships, learnerships).
- No criminal record, verified through background checks.
- Basic computer literacy and knowledge of computer packages.
- Ability to work in a community-based, target-driven environment.

Candidates must reside in the catchment areas of the following TVET Colleges (2 positions per college):
- Eastern Cape: Ikhala TVET College (Queenstown, Sterkspruit, Lady Frere, Aliwal North, Ezibeleni); King Sabata Dalindyebo TVET College (Mthatha, Libode, Mapuzi/Coffee Bay, Mngazi, Ngcobo, Elliotdale); Ingwe TVET College (Mount Frere, Mount Fletcher, Maluti, Siteto, Lusikisiki Ngcungqushe).
- KwaZulu-Natal: Coastal KZN TVET College (Durban, Swinton, Umlazi, Appelsbosch); Mnambithi TVET College (Estcourt, Ezakheni, Ladysmith); Umgungundlovu TVET College (Pietermaritzburg, Msinga, Imbali, Sobuntu, Edendale, Hlanganani, Msunduzi, Muden, Northdale); Mthashana TVET College (Vryheid, Kwa-Gqikiza, Nongoma, Ulundi, Nquthu, Kwangwanase).
- Gauteng: Sedibeng TVET College (Sebokeng, Heidelberg); Central Johannesburg TVET College; Westcol TVET College (Carletonville, Krugersdorp, Randfontein, Westonaria); Tshwane North TVET College (Pretoria, Mamelodi, Soshanguve, Temba, Rosslyn).
- Western Cape: West Coast TVET College (Malmesbury, Vredenburg, Vredendal); South Cape College (Beaufort West, Oudtshoorn, George, Mossel Bay, Riversdale Hessequa, Plettenberg Bay).
- Northern Cape: Northern Cape Urban TVET College (Kimberly, Galeshewe); Northern Cape Rural TVET College (Upington, Kathu, Kuruman, Namaqualand, De Aar).
- Limpopo: Waterberg TVET College (Lebowakgomo, Thabazimbi, Mokopane, Mahwelereng); Sekhukhune TVET College (Burgersfort, Groblersdal, Motetema, Praktisser, Ga-Nchabeleng).
- Mpumalanga: Gert Sibande TVET College (Balfour, Ermelo, Evander, Mpuluzi, Perdekop, Standerton); Nkangala TVET College (Witbank, Middleburg, Siyabuswa, Waterval Boven).
- North West: Vuselela TVET College (Klerksdorp, Joberton, Potchefstroom, Taung).
Preferences
- Candidates from historically disadvantaged groups (Coloureds, Indians, Whites, persons with disabilities).
- Bilingual candidates (English and a local language of the catchment area).
- Experience in community engagement or training facilitation.
- Strong report writing and analytical skills.
