About SHRA
The Social Housing Regulatory Authority (SHRA) is a Schedule 3A public entity under the Department of Human Settlements, established under the Public Finance Management Act, No. 1 of 1999. SHRA’s mandate, per the Social Housing Act, No. 16 of 2008, is to facilitate rental social housing for low to medium-income earners across South Africa, promoting sustainable communities and equitable housing access.
Internship Purpose
The SHRA Internship Programme 2025 offers unemployed South African graduates under 35 a two-year opportunity to gain workplace experience in Supply Chain Management. Reporting to the Strategy, Research, and Planning (SRP) Manager, this internship combines practical tasks with professional development, equipping interns with skills to excel in the public sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Support contract management and ensure compliance with PFMA, PPPFA, BBBEE, Corporate Governance, and SCM regulations.
- Assist in evaluating tenders (RFQ, RFP, RFB) and processing purchase orders for a seamless order-to-delivery cycle.
- Track and manage contracts, invoices, purchase orders, and related documents.
- Resolve supply chain issues affecting internal and external stakeholders.
- Maintain document management in accordance with ISO Standards.
- Provide general administrative support to the Supply Chain Management unit.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Grade 12/Matric certificate.
- National Diploma or equivalent at NQF Level 6 in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Purchasing Management.
- Bachelor’s degree or NQF Level 7 qualification in the above fields is an advantage.
- No prior work experience required.
- Valid South African ID.
Competencies
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understanding of public sector Supply Chain Management legislation and developments.
- Ability to work under pressure with a proactive attitude.
- High attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
