Job Purpose
As a Shop Assistant/Cashier, you will enhance the customer experience through efficient point-of-sale operations, accurate merchandising, and proactive promotion of Clicks’ offerings. This role is ideal for customer-focused individuals passionate about retail.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute point-of-sale activities efficiently and accurately, including scanning merchandise and processing payments.
- Handle cash securely and action ClubCard rewards for customers.
- Promote the Clicks ClubCard, enrolling new members to meet participation targets.
- Inform customers about promotions to boost sales and ensure a “feel good, pay less” experience.
- Deliver superior customer service as a brand ambassador, offering friendly and professional assistance.
- Maintain merchandising and housekeeping standards in-store.
- Stay updated on products, ranges, promotions, and events to provide accurate information.
- Support Clicks’ vision to be the customer’s first-choice health and beauty retailer.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: Grade 12 (Essential); Maths and English at 50% or above (Desirable).
- Experience: Experience in a customer-facing retail/FMCG store role (Desirable).
Knowledge and Skills
- Basic mathematical calculations and numeracy skills.
- Understanding of retail/FMCG merchandising and promotions principles.
- Knowledge of stock management procedures and customer service excellence.
- Strong planning, organizing, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills and customer orientation.
- Computer literacy.
Competencies
- Essential: Relating and networking, following instructions, delivering results, meeting customer expectations.
- Desirable: Working with people, persuading and influencing, planning and organizing, coping with pressures and setbacks.
