Job Title: IT Support Analyst (x11 Posts)

Location: Pretoria, Ladysmith, Springs, City Deep, Bellville, Pietermaritzburg, Krugersdorp, Kilner Park, Nelspruit, Ermelo, Capila Park, Vaalcon, Germiston
Position Purpose
The IT Support Analyst will serve as a single point of contact for end-users to receive technical support for information technology equipment across various Transnet sites.
Responsibilities include installing, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading computer hardware and software. This role also encompasses disaster recovery, business continuity planning, communication solutions, and security measures to ensure optimal workstation performance.
The ultimate goal is to provide reliable desktop support to facilitate uninterrupted business operations with minimal downtime.
Position Outputs
- Ensure network, internet, mail connectivity, end-user logon access, and equipment reliability.
- Utilize hardware and software tools to enhance business processes.
- Support end-users in accessing servers and perform basic troubleshooting.
- Manage backups of user data on laptops, IPADs, cellular devices, and small systems.
- Assist in basic server configurations for file sharing and printer resources.
- Implement and maintain ICT security measures.
- Provide technical support for software, hardware, network issues, and in-house applications.
- Procure repairs and maintenance for ICT equipment to minimize downtime.
- Conduct quality assurance testing for new processes or systems.
- Distribute system downtime notifications and provide ICT tips to end-users.
- Provide first-line support for outsourced functions (printers, networks, digital signage).
- Maintain and manage equipment within the computer room.
- Update and maintain software licenses and hardware inventories.
- Perform desktop capacity planning by monitoring user disk space and mailbox sizes.
- Manage and monitor third-party staff in the ICT environment and liaise with suppliers.
- Control ICT loan equipment.
- Provide multifunctional desktop support across hardware, software, servers, printers, multimedia, networking, and mobility.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: 3-Year Diploma or relevant National/Advanced Diploma (NQF 6/7) in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- Certifications: A+ Certification, N+ Certification. ITIL Foundation Certification is advantageous.
- Experience: 5 years of relevant desktop support experience, particularly with Lenovo, HP, Dell, Acer, or Asus PCs.
- Other Requirements:
- Driver’s license code 08 and own transport are highly desirable.
- Willingness to travel to various Transnet sites and to neighboring countries as required.
