The State Information Technology Agency (SITA) is inviting applications for two Catering Attendant vacancies based at SITA Erasmuskloof and Centurion. These positions are offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract and may suit applicants with a Matric certificate and limited catering-related work experience.

Purpose of the SITA Catering Attendant Positions

The main purpose of these positions is to provide efficient food and beverage services to SITA employees while ensuring that acceptable hygiene standards are maintained.

Applicants should therefore be comfortable working in a catering environment where food preparation, serving, cleanliness and customer service form part of the daily responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have:

  • Matric / Grade 12
  • Between 0 and 1 year of relevant experience
  • A basic understanding of the practical and theoretical processes associated with catering or related work

This opportunity may therefore be suitable for candidates who have recently completed Matric and are looking to gain practical workplace experience in catering and hospitality.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to perform duties including:

  • Preparing food according to menu cycles and function requirements
  • Working in areas such as salad and pasta preparation, sandwich preparation and function catering
  • Ensuring food is prepared and served on time
  • Carrying out daily portion control
  • Preparing sample and retention plates where required
  • Assisting with meal service to customers
  • Supporting function deliveries, front-counter service and kiosk operations
  • Following SITA’s Standard Operating Procedures

Knowledge and Skills

Applicants should preferably have knowledge or understanding of areas such as:

  • Food nutrition and beverages
  • HACCP principles
  • Occupational Health and Safety requirements
  • Cleaning chemicals
  • Catering equipment and cooking tools
  • Catering production methods
  • Event management
  • Consumables
  • Computer literacy
  • Basic financial skills
