The Cook is also responsible for keeping the galley clean, safe, and well-organised, as well as managing food supplies, monitoring stock levels, and minimising unnecessary waste. In addition, the position involves ensuring that sufficient food and provisions are available for each voyage, contributing to the overall wellbeing, comfort, and operational efficiency of the crew.
You will be required to perform the duties below:
- Plan and prepare meals by creating daily menus, accommodating dietary requirements, and preparing meals according to the vessel’s schedule
- Maintain galley hygiene and safety by following all applicable food safety, hygiene, health, and maritime regulations
- Manage stock and supplies by monitoring inventory levels, rotating provisions properly, and placing orders when additional supplies are needed
- Maintain accurate records and reports by completing meal logs, updating stock records, and following established galley cleaning schedules
