Minimum Requirements

Duties and Responsibilities
Successful candidates will be responsible for providing porter services throughout Tembisa Provincial Tertiary Hospital.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Transporting patients from registration points to different clinical areas within the hospital.
- Transporting deceased patients from hospital wards to the mortuary.
- Assisting patients who arrive in ambulances or private vehicles.
- Moving patients safely onto stretchers or wheelchairs.
- Cleaning stretchers and wheelchairs after every use.
- Completing ambulance forms.
- Recording patient information in the porters’ register at the emergency area.
- Handing completed forms to the Registry Clerk.
- Recording the correct contact details of patients brought to the hospital by ambulance.
- Ensuring that patient trolleys and wheelchairs are available and ready for use.
- Remaining on standby to provide porter services requested by other hospital departments.
- Treating all patients with dignity and respect.
- Ensuring that enough clean linen is stored safely in the Porters Department.
- Sorting soiled linen every day.
