Minimum Requirements

Applicants must have one of the following qualifications:

Duties and Responsibilities

Successful candidates will provide housekeeping and cleaning services throughout Livingstone Tertiary Hospital.

Cleaning and Housekeeping Services

Household Workers will be responsible for:

  • Keeping allocated hospital areas clean and tidy.
  • Sweeping, washing, dusting, polishing and vacuuming floors and surfaces.
  • Cleaning offices, hospital rooms, bathrooms, toilets and other allocated areas.
  • Removing and disposing of waste correctly.
  • Cleaning kitchen utensils, equipment and work surfaces.
  • Maintaining high standards of hygiene throughout the hospital.
  • Cleaning boardrooms and arranging chairs, water, glasses and other utensils.

Cleaning Equipment and Stock Control

Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring stock levels of cleaning materials, tea supplies and meal utensils.
  • Keeping cleaning equipment safe, clean and in good working condition.
  • Storing cleaning products and equipment neatly in designated cupboards.
  • Reporting damaged or faulty cleaning equipment.
  • Reporting shortages of cleaning materials and supplies.
  • Using cleaning chemicals and equipment according to safety instructions.

Safety and Basic Maintenance

Successful candidates may also be expected to:

  • Lock doors and close windows where required.
  • Identify possible fire, electrical and safety hazards.
  • Report maintenance problems that require professional attention.
  • Ensure that minor maintenance issues are attended to by the appropriate service officers.
  • Comply with instructions relating to the storage and use of materials and equipment.

Infection Prevention and Hygiene

Household Workers will be required to:
