With an estimated mine life of around 10 years, the operation targets the Black Reef and UK9A Kimberley Reef ore bodies, which are located at relatively shallow depths of 300 to 500 meters below the surface, supporting efficient and cost-effective gold production.

Gold One Group Limited’s New Shelf 1186 (Gedex) Operations is a gold mining operation located in Brakpan within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, approximately 30 km east of Johannesburg in Gauteng Province. For the 2026 financial year, the Gedex Operation is inviting external applicants to apply for the apprenticeship opportunities listed below.

Eligibility Criteria
The Gold One Apprenticeships 2026 is available for candidates who possess qualities that are in line with the programme’s work. Each of these items will determine whether you are well-deserving enough of the apprenticeship or not. It is advisable that you pay attention to these requirements. The Gold One Apprenticeships Eligibility Criteria are:
- Only South African citizens will be considered
- Candidates must have a clear criminal record and will undergo criminal screening before appointment
- Applicants must have completed N2 or NCV Level 4. All certificate copies and ID documents must be SAPS-certified within the last three months and submitted in PDF format
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential
- Applicants must be capable of working underground
- Candidates must be flexible and willing to work rotational shifts
- Proof of residence is required, such as a Water and Rates account reflecting matching surnames. Preference will be given to applicants residing within the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, specifically Municipal Wards 71, 72, 73, 75, and 97, which are recognized as the mine’s host communities. However, qualified candidates from other areas within the Far East Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality are also encouraged to apply
