What This Job Is About
As a Receptionist, you will be the first person people see when they arrive at the college. You will welcome visitors, answer calls, and help with admin tasks.
Your role is very important because you create the first impression of the college. A friendly and professional attitude will help students, staff, and visitors feel comfortable and supported.
Your Daily Duties
In this role, you will be responsible for a variety of front desk and admin tasks, including:
- Greeting visitors and directing them to the right place
- Answering phone calls and transferring them to the correct departments
- Taking messages and passing them on quickly
- Assisting with general admin tasks
- Keeping records of office expenses
- Helping with payments and petty cash
- Scanning, photocopying, and filing documents
- Keeping the reception area clean and organised
- Supervising cleaning staff at reception
- Assisting with planning college events
- Ordering office supplies like stationery and equipment
- Offering refreshments to visitors
- Following health and safety rules at all times
You will also handle any extra tasks given to you by management.
What You Need to Apply
To qualify for this job, you must have:
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- 1–2 years of experience as a receptionist or administrator
- Basic computer skills
It is also an advantage if you have:
- A higher certificate in Office Administration
- Experience working in a college or education environment
