The Gauteng Department of Health is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for a General Assistant (Asset Management) position based at Wits Oral Health Centre. Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this Department of Health vacancy, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- Computer literacy, particularly MS Office (Excel proficiency is essential)
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and organisational skills
- Basic knowledge of Asset Management or Supply Chain Management (advantageous)
- Valid driver’s licence (added advantage)
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidate will support the Asset Management Unit through the following duties:
Asset Verification and Tracking
- Assist with physical verification, scanning, mapping, and identification of assets
- Update and maintain accurate asset registers
Asset Register and Barcoding
- Ensure all new assets are barcoded and correctly recorded
- Maintain and update asset records in accordance with departmental systems
Asset Disposal Support
- Assist with identification, storage, and disposal of obsolete, damaged, or redundant assets
Stock Control and Logistics
- Support the receipt, issuing, and movement of furniture and equipment
Administrative and Clerical Support
- Capture asset data on systems such as LOGIS and Excel
- File documentation and provide general office support
Loss Control and Compliance
- Report missing or damaged assets
- Assist with loss and theft administration
- Ensure compliance with the Public Finance Management Act (PFMA) and departmental policies
