Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent qualification
- Willingness to work shifts, including rotation within the department
- Strong communication and customer care skills
- Ability to work under pressure, including dealing with difficult patients
- Good problem-solving skills
- Must be comfortable with handling corpses
- Physically fit and able to perform demanding duties
Key Responsibilities and Duties
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following tasks:
- Transporting patients from Casualty to various hospital departments
- Assisting departments such as X-Ray, Theatre, Maternity, and others
- Loading and offloading patients from ambulances and private vehicles
- Checking, replacing, and handling oxygen cylinders
- Collecting, cleaning, and maintaining wheelchairs and stretchers
- Transferring deceased patients from wards to the mortuary
- Performing all porter-related duties as delegated by the Supervisor
